City of Long Beach: Climate Action + Adaptation Plan (CAAP)
Summary
The City of Long Beach expressed concern with the impacts of climate change and wishes to be equipped to deal with its challenges and be prepared through sustainability planning. Through the Climate Action and Adaptation Plan (CAAP), Long Beach aims to address climate change, meeting obligations while improving the quality of life and economic prospects of residents. CAAP is meant to educate Long Beach residents about the challenges to come and to galvanize them to take an active role in the City’s preparation for possible ecological crises, such as rising seas and eroding beaches and shorelines that will affect port operation areas, damaging property and affecting ecosystems.
Scope:
Responsible for stakeholder engagement and public outreach, MBI:
- Oversaw logistics and execution of public open house meetings in the community
- Created collateral materials, including flyers, comment cards, fact sheets, FAQs, infographics and project boards
- Created and distributed online survey
- Produced and sent out e-blasts to project stakeholders and open house attendees
- Led phone banking campaign to inform stakeholders and increase attendance at open house meetings
- Created social media calendar and content
- Strategy development and evaluation
